Is Charlie Blackon ready to hit leadoff?

Imagine how deep the Rockies lineup will be once Carlos Gonzalez is allowed to go back to a power spot in the order. Cargo was lowered into the leadoff spot to create a spark for the Rockies anemic offense, now is the time to put him back. Charlie Blackmon is making a strong case to bat leadoff, witness his .354 BA and .380 OBP. Not only is Blackmon finding a way to get on base, he's puting pressure on the pitcher and creating opportunities to score with his speed on the basepaths. In his 13 games played he's stolen 5 bases and is yet to be thrown out.

Although I'm not a fan of throwing rookies into the fire, Blackmon has shown his ability ingnite the team from the bottom of the order. When the Rockies called him up from AAA Colorado Springs to replace Dexter Fowler, the idea was to put him at leadoff at some point and what better time is there than now? During his stint in AAA, Blackmon hit .337 with 10 HR and 49 RBI. Two season ago the Rockies brought Dexter Fowler up from AA Tulsa and threw him into the mix, which is indeed a precedent worth noting. Not only did Blackon play in AAA, he conquered it. While Fowler is in the minors working on his swing, Blackmon can and should be at the top of the Rockies batting order. I know they want to show patience with a young talent but the Rockies could make huge dividends by thrusting Blackmon into the leadoff position.

Should the Rockies put Carlos Gonzalez back into a power spot in the lineup or keep him batting leadoff?
