Nuggets trade Timberwolves for Ty Lawson
The Minnesota Timberwolves had 4 first round draft picks in the 2009 NBA Draft. With their first 3 choices, they took 3 of the best point
guards available. Ty Lawson, the ex-North Carolina Tar Heel was the 3rd of the 3 point guards drafted. He was quickly traded to the Denver Nuggets for a conditional pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. There were reports that the Nuggets were very high on Lawson last year, but he didn't enter the draft. This trade should be great for the Nuggets.
Chauncey Billups will have a really good backup, and can play less minutes next season. This year, Chauncey kept his minutes down but when the playoffs came he started to wear down. He played great for most of the playoffs, but seemed to really lose steam in the Western Conference Finals against the L.A. Lakers. Anthony Carter has been a good backup point guard for the Nuggets, but he's an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Nuggets don't have much room to sign free agents and Chris Andersen will be their priority. If the Nuggets make an offer to Carter it will have to be pretty low, or Stan Kroenke will end up paying the luxury tax again.
If you followed any college basketball the last 2 or 3 years, you've definitely seen Ty Lawson highlights. Lawson played much like Chauncey Billups in college. A good scorer and passer, he can get points at the basket and has a good jumpshot. Lawson was not a big assist guy, but either was Chauncey. It took Chauncey a few years (and a few teams) before he reached his full potential as an all-around point guard. I'm really excited to have a young, athletic point guard to learn under Chauncey for a few years. Ty Lawson should be a really good pick for the Denver Nuggets.

I think is an awesome move for the Nuggets. Finally they did something in the draft. How long has it been? I don't remember our last impact player that we have drafted. You could say Kleiza I guess. He will be a good back up for two or three years, then maybe we can transition him to a starter when Chauncy retires. He deffinitly has someone really good to mentor him. Now all we need to do is sign Birdman and get rid of Hunter and his big contract that he is due to get next year!
Go Nuggets!

Great move! Mark my words-Lawson will prove to be better than Rubio.

Heck Yeah, and I called it a month before the draft. I was actually in Vegas and should have dropped a bet on it.
